Ferguson Slide Permanent Restoration Project

Description

Project, as approved by CDFW on Dec. 18, 2015 involves the construction of a 700-foot long rock shed along the existing alignment of SR 140 to reestablish two-lane traffic in an area previously impacted by a series of major rockslides in spring 2006. The project is expected to result in incidental take of limestone salamander (hydromantes brunus) (Covered Species), which is designated as a threatened species under the CESA. In 2016, the ITP was amended (Major Amendment No. 1): authorizing geotechnical drilling activities; increasing the amount of Covered Species habitat disturbance; expanding the take minimization measures by adding specific measures to geotechnical drilling activities; and adjusting the required submission date of the Vegetation Restoration Plan. This Minor Amendment No. 2 extends the term of the ITP, as amended by 15 years and postpones preparation/submittal of the Vegetation Restoration Plan to allow for delays in accomplishing the Project.
