Document Description
Project, as approved by CDFW on Dec. 18, 2015 involves the construction of a 700-foot long rock shed along the existing alignment of SR 140 to reestablish two-lane traffic in an area previously impacted by a series of major rockslides in spring 2006. The project is expected to result in incidental take of limestone salamander (hydromantes brunus) (Covered Species), which is designated as a threatened species under the CESA. Major Amendment No. 1 authorizes changes tot eh project description to icnldue geotechnical drilling activities; increasing the amount of Covered Species habitat disturbance; expands the take minimization measures by adding specific measures to geotechnical drilling activities; and adjusts the required submission date of the Vegetation Restoration Plan. As amended, the project will result in impacts up to approx. 3.04 acres of Covered Species habitat including 1.32 acres of permanent impacts. This ITP amendment does result in a small change to the project footprint and the amount of impacted Covered Species habitat.
