- Mediacom Inyokern to Oynx Fiber Optic Project
- Description
- Proposed project provides installation of armored loose tube fiber cable for 32.4 miles from current Ridgecrest system connection to Inyokern to connection location in Onyx. Cable would primarily be installed underground with plowing or directional boring processes in Caltrans ROW, prescriptive areas adjacent to SR 178 and SR 14, or at four boring locations under roadway. Exceptions include: seven new Mediacom-owned poles installed to pass cable over two LADWP Aqueducts; cable installed on SCE poles in existing utility easement and/or 25-ft BLM License Agreement Area west of SR 14 outside ROW; over Canebrake Creek with cable attached to bridge; and cable installed under roadbed for a section of route with steep topography where Caltrans restricts use of poles. Proposed project would install 17 vaults, two aerial splice cases, and route markers.
