Title
Shasta Water Management Project
Description
Project is limited to two components. Component one of this project is at the Hidden Valley Ranch point of diversion on the Shasta River. The current head gate structure that diverts water down an open conveyance ditch about 1500 feet to a fish screen and weir box will be replaced with fish screen at the point of diversion and a piped irrigation system. The existing intake headwall will be removed and replaced with the new fish screen (66 inch stainless steel cone frame) and intake structures. The fish screen and intake structure will be built off-site and placed in the river bed at the same location as the existing diversion structure. The second component of the Shasta Valley RCD project is at the Kettle Springs impoundment. The current diversion structure will be replaced with new headworks that will connect to new irrigation piping instead of utilizing ditch conveyance. Piping will be a more efficient way to irrigate, and will result in less diversion of water from the system. The new structure will be placed at the same location (on the levee) as the existing structure; pipeline will be installed in upland areas adjacent to current ditches. Large Woody Debris (LWD) structures will be place in Kettle springs Creek downstream of the existing spring impoundment.
