Title
Phase II Recycled Water Distribution System Expansion Project
Description
The District operates an existing water recycling plant that has treatment facilities capable of producing up to 3.7 million gallons per day of tertiary treated recycled water. Tertiary treated water is supplied to a recycled water distribution system consisting of approx. 20 miles of recycled water pipelines and more than 200 dedicated irrigation meters. The recycled water system supplies as much as 1,450 acre-feet per year of tertiary treated recycled water for irrigation in Laguna Woods and Laguna Hills. The remaining secondary effluent is discharged to the Pacific Ocean via the South Orange County Wastewater Authority Effluent Transmission Main. The District is proposing to expand the Recycled Water Distribution System to allow for delivery of up to 300 afy of additional tertiary-treated recycled water to existing dedicated irrigation customers within the District's service area. The Project would be supplied by the existing tertiary treatment plant, and consists of approx. 5.4 miles of 4-inch to 10-inch pipelines within existing paved residential roadways within Laguna Woods.
