CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2016-0248-R6, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, the Coachella Valley Association of Governements. The project is limited to the construction of up to 49 miles of non-motorized, multi-model transportation path network through up to twelve jurisdictions within the Coachella Valley. Two municipalities (Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells) may or may not elect to participate in the project. Project measures shall be implemented in any location where the project will occur. If portions of the project will not be completed, the measures will not apply in those areas. The proposed trail system will primarily be constructed on the existing levees of Chino Wash, Tahquitz Creek, and the Whitewater River Stormwater Channel/Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel (Whitewater River). the project will also incorporate and expand the existing Tahquitz Creek Trail in Palm Springs. Construction within areas subject to Fish and game Code section 1602 will occur at up to 31 locations. These locations are principally where the trail system will descend into channels when corssing major vehicular thoroughfares. The project shall utilize a phased approach for construction. Impact Site No. 1 is located within the Coachella valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan Whitewater Floodplain Conservation Area.
