Perris II Brackish Groundwater Desalter Relocation & Ancillary Facilities

Description

Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) proposes to construct and operate the Perris II Brackish Groundwater Desalter and Ancillary Facilities Project (Project). The proposed Project would involve the construction of the desalter itself along with supporting infrastructure. Supporting infrastructure may include up to three new wells and associated equipment; approximately 74,000 linear feet of pipeline measuring up to 36-inch diameter; pumping facilities; wellhead treatment and monitoring; and other equipment or facilities as determined by final design. It is anticipated that the proposed Project would provide up to 6.3 mgd of water pumped from twelve existing and up to seven new brackish water wells feeding into a reverse osmosis desalination plant. Four of the new wells are either under construction or anticipated to be under construction in 2015. The proposed Project would meet the potable water demands for up to 12,000 homes in the disadvantaged community areas of the cities of Perris and Menifee as well as a portion of unincorporated Riverside County, California. The Project proposes to relocate the previously approved Perris II Desalter Project to a site located adjacent to Murrieta Road just north of the extension of Valley Boulevard in the City of Menifee. This site is immediately east of EMWD's inactive Sun City Regional Water Reclamation Facility and active Menifee and Perris I Desalters site.
