Document Description
Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) intends to construct a three million gallon a day desalter that encompasses the following components: 1) Reverse Osmosis (RO) building; 2) chemical storage and feed facilities; 3) chlorine contract tanks and finished water pump station; 4) a brine pump station and connection to Temescal Valley Regional Interceptor; 5) a field laboratory; and 6) a storage and maintenance facility. The construction of ancillary brine conveyance pipeline will be from the Perris II Desalter to the EMWD Menifee Desalter Plant located in Sun City, and would come off the Perris II Desalter and connect underground from Watson Road on the south side of the road, running approximately 1/2 mile west where it would tie into existing brine pipeline on the east side of Murrieta Road. Supporting facilities will include feed water pipelines and brackish water wells in the Perris South Sub Basin. Upon completion, the Perris II Desalter will supply needed water to the EMWD service region by producing potable water from an otherwise unusable groundwater resource, and will reduce future demands for imported water that would otherwise by purchased from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
