- The project provides an east-west pedestrian underpass crossing underneath the BART and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) trackways, connecting the BART intermodal station with the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) property, which is to be redeveloped as part of the Amended and Restated Redevelopment Plan for the Union City Community Redevelopment Project. The proposes Pedestrian Grade Separation crosses 157.5 feet north of the existing BART station building. Pedestrians access the underpass from an intermodal plaza on the west side of BART and a series of stairs and ADA-accessible ramps on the east side of UPRR underpass. Preliminary underpass dimensions are 12-feet high by 30-feet wide.
