Castro Valley Townhomes IS-MND

Description

DTSC approved modification to a previously approved project, a 12-lot Planned Development for the construction of 27 townhomes, common space, a park, and a stormwater bioretention treatment area. This modification was made under a Removal Action Workplan (RAW) for soil remediation at the Jamison Way Parcels site due to the contamination of soil with arsenic, chlordane, dieldrin, DDE, and DDT. Preparation and approval of the RAW by DTSC is pursuant to Ch. 6.8 of the CA Health and Safety Code. Activities to be conducted pursuant to the approved RAW include: 1) excavation and off-site disposal of approx. 1,700 cubic yards of contaminated soil; 2) stockpiling soil on-site; and 3) transportation of the excavated contaminated soil to an off-site permitted landfill.
