Title
Murphys Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project
Description
The District has prepared two Addenda to the Initial Study/MND for the project. First Addendum from May of 2016, included relocating the existing headworks from an off-site pump station to the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), providing paved access to the pump station, installing a buried valve box at the pump station, and replacing influent pumps with solids handling pumps. The Addendum also removed the following activities from the project and original scope of the IS/MND: construction of a new lab building, construction of an oxidation ditch, construction of a secondary clarifier, construction of sludge drying beds, and conversion of Pond 1 into a sludge storage pond. Second Addendum from October of 2016, included construction of a new influent pump station instead of retrofitting the existing station, replacing the two existing pumps in Pond 4, adding a solar floating mixer in Pond 4 at the WWTP, relining the finishing pond, replacing the aeration system with a portable fine bubble aeration system in pond 1 and Pond 2 at the WWTP, increasing storage capacity in Pond 4 to meet permit requirements at the WWTP, replacing the existing disinfection system with a new chlorine contact basin at the WWTP, and removing accumulated sludge from Pond 1 at the WWTP.
