Document Description
The Murphys Sanitary District provides wastewater collection, treatment and disposal services to the unincorporated community of Murphys and surrounding areas within its service boundaries. The WWTP is regulated by Regional Water Quality Control Board Order No. 5-00-264-002. SD has determined that it is in the best long-term interest of public health, environmental maintenance and protection, and the Districts financial and technical interests to pursue an alternative wastewater treatment method at the current WWTP. The 2014 MSD Alternatives Evaluation Report concluded that the Apparent Best Alternative (ABA) is the "Oxidation Ditch" process. The main advantage of the oxidation ditch is the ability to achieve performance objectives with low operational requirements along with low operation and maintenance costs.
