Title
Eastside Water Banking and Blending Project
Description
The existing 96th Street East Turnout consists of 20-inch diameter coal-tar lined and coated steel pipe with a priming station to siphon the water out of the California Aqueduct, as well as a pump station, metering vault, and water filter bank. In order to supply water to and from AVEKWA's proposed Eastside Water Banking and Blending Project, AVEKWA must modify the existing 96th Street East Turnout for pumping surplus SWP water into recharge basins for later extraction as a supplemental supply to the Eastside WTP. AVEKWA will install approximately 360 feet of 20-inch cement-mortar lined and coated steel pipeline that ties into the existing 96th Street East Turnout's discharge pipeline just upstream of the pump station and runs westerly along DWR's right of way to a valve located adjacent to 96th Street East. AVEKWA will also install other equipment such as a metering vault, a magnetic flow meter, and associated electrical and instrumentation equipment to allow for the delivery of SWP water to and from the recharge basins. The maximum design capacity of the 96th Street East Turnout will remain unchanged at 11 cubic-feet-per-second.
