Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Northside Plan Update

Description

CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-206-0248-R5, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, LA World Airports. The project is limited to the long-term routine maintenance within Argo Ditch in order to remove sediment and debris and vegetation that attracts birds posing aircraft strike hazards. Permittee provides vegetation clearance, erosion control, and debris removal once or twice a year. This work is completed when the ditch is dry, except near the outfall areas where there is perennial water. The work includes removal of trees and large shrubs, grass, trash, and debris from all areas of the Argo Ditch. Erosion control includes maintaining the channel bottom as necessary to restore flow, minimize excessive pooling and vegetation establishment, and maintain adequate access for maintenance equipment. In addition, the work includes maintenance of four permanent 12 to 15 foot wide access road/ramps.
