Title
Water Storage Reservoir Replacement Project
Description
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), as the Responsible, will be issuing a water supply permit to Lake Arrowhead Community Services District (District) for the retrofitting of many water reservoirs in the District's water system. The Brentwood Reservoir, Mittry Reservoir, Shasta Reservoir and Banff Reservoir do not meet modern earthquake standards. The District determined that the most economical way to ensure the reservoirs at the aforementioned sites have the structural integrity to withstand most strong earthquakes over the long term would be to replace the reservoirs with new reservoirs that meet all applicable standards. In addition to providing replacement reservoirs with enhanced structural integrity, expanding the storage capacity of the replacement reservoirs is needed. The proposed project consists of replacing the existing reservoirs with new reservoirs that can withstand greater ground shaking forces from potential earthquakes and also increasing water storage capacity at each of the four existing reservoir sites. The project will also include the demolishing of the existing water reservoirs at four sites (five reservoirs total), removing the demolished reservoir materials, re-grading each of the four sites and installation of one replacement reservoir, and related facilities, at each of the four sites in the Lake Arrowhead community.
