Document Description
The 2008 Water Facilities Master Plan study determined that certain improvements were needed to components of the District's potable water infrastructure. Many water reservoirs in the District's water system were found to be in need of seismic retrofits due to concerns over structural integrity, particularly during a major regional seismic event. The study concluded that the Brentwood Reservoir, Mitlry Reservois, Shasta Reservoir and Beniff Reservoir, did not met modern earthquake standards. The District determined that the most economical way to ensure the reservoirs at the aforementioned sites have the structural integrity to withstand most strong earthquakes over the long term would be to replace the reservoirs with new reservoirs with new reservoirs that met all applicable standards. Recognizing the need for more storage to meet the needs of existing development and offering options in light of the area's water supply uncertainty, the District has concluded that, in additions to providing replacement with enhanced structural integrity, expanding the storage capacity of the replacement reservoir is.
