Title
State Route 99 Corridor Bikeway Project
Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2013-0076-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, City of Chico, Capital Project Services Department. The City of Chico is proposing to construct a 12-foot-wide, 130 foot long, prefabricated steel truss bicycle/pedestrian, clear-span Bridge. The proposed bridge is part of the City of Chico's State Route 99 Bike Path System which will provide connectivity for the surrounding community, schools and parks that parallel SR 99. The proposed bridge would extend from an existing bicycle path into the Caltrans right-of-way, over Little Chico Creek, and continue south into the East 20th Street Community Park. The existing bike path that parallels Little Chico Creek would serve as a buffer between proposed project improvements north of the creek and the streambed. No construction activities would occur within the streambed or channel of the Little Chico creek. The clear-span bridge would extend 130 feet between two abutments placed on the north and south side of the creek, outside of the ordinary high water and stream channel. Installation of the bridge would require trimming of vegetation within the creek channel for safety purposes, however this vegetation would not be removed.
