Title
Sierra Tract Erosion Control Project, Phase 1b
Description
The project proposes to construct, maintain, and improve stormwater facilities and implement erosion control practices. The proposed Project improvements include installing curb and gutter; constructing treatment facilities on vacant public parcels, or within the public right-of-way; and restoring roadside shoulder soil and vegetation. Demolition of a single-family residence (owned by the City) with subsequent stream environment zone restoration on the parcel is also proposed. The source controls included in the proposed Project area designed to stabilize soils and prevent associated nutrients from entering the storm water runoff stream. Conveyance systems for the proposed Project have been designed to minimize concentrated surface runoff by maximizing infiltration as close to the source of runoff as possible. Best Management Practices (BMPs) have been designed to treat the runoff of more frequent, smaller storm events, unlike flood control measures that are typically designed to store or convey the peak flow rates or detain sufficient volume to reduce the peak flow rate of infrequent large storm events. The improvements have been configured in a "treatment train" system to maximize stormwater quality improvement and provide multiple layers of protection for receiving waterd downstream of the project area (Trout Creek, a tributary to Lake Tahoe).
