- Flood Control District Multi-Objective Flood Management Program Within The South
- The project is limited to desilting of the channel. Sediment removal will be focused on the center island of sediment, preserving the majority of two adjacent habitat areas: 1) the low-flow channel along the southeastern side of the site, and 2) marsh and upland habitats adjacent to the sediment island. The flood-flow capacity and design configuration of Old Alameda Creek will be restored by excavating and removing a total of ~39,000 cy of accumulated sediment. The project is located on the border of Hayward and Union City in Alameda County, between the 20 Tide Gate Structure to the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) crossing.
