- Description
- The Pasadena City Council approved the Raymond Theater Reuse and Mixed Use Project that consists of 61 residential units and 28,565 square feet of commercial retail and office uses. This project is the conversion of the Raymond Theater building, and associated actions to enable the proposed construction and use. Portions of the historic interior will be modified including the placement of units within the flyloft of the theater, conversion of the theater balcony to multiple floor of office use, and removal of the sloped floor and location of parking under the theater. The Council approved specific variances for the new building. These include: a height variance which allows the new building to be a maximum of 65 feet where the Civic Center Plan allows 45 feet and to have 6 stories where the Central District Plan allows only 4 stories for nonresidential projects (This new building is considered a nonresidential building because it has a small amount of retail space). They also approved a variance that allows a 5-foot setback from the street where the code does not permit any setback and variances for increased compact parking spaces and to allow tandem parking spaces.
