Document Description
The Pasadena City Council approved the Raymond Theater Reuse and Mixed Use Project that consists of 61 residential units to be constructed in a new building on the vacant lot adjacent to the Raymond Theater. This new building will have approximately 1,500 square feet of retail space. The theater will be used as a performing arts venue and will be restored. The City Council adopted a mitigation measure that requires the theater to be rehabilitated according to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. The Council approved specific variances for the new building. These include: a height variance which allows the new building to be a maximum of 65 feet where the Civic Center Plan allows 45 feet and to have 6 stories where the Central District Plan allows only 4 stories for non-residential projects. This new building is considered a non-residential building because it has a small amount of retail space. They also approved a variance that allows a 5-foot setback from the street where the Code does not permit any setback and variances for increased compact parking spaces and to allow tandem parking spaces.
