Document Description
The project proposes a General Plan Amendment/Zone Change (GPA/ZC) on 8.53 acres located generally on the southwest corner of the Renfro Road/Santa Fe Way intersection. The request includes: (1) an amendment of the Land Use Element of the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan land use designation from R-IA (Resource-Intensive Agriculture) to LI (Light Industrial), or a more restrictive designation, and (2) a change in zone classification from A (Agriculture) to zone M-1 (Light Manufacturing). The applicant's reason for the request is to meet market demand for light industrial uses in northwest Bakersfield and to provide a buffer between future residential development to the south of the site and the existing railroad line to the north.
