Document Description
The Compton Unified School District has updated the design of the Compton High School redevelopment project to accommodate 1,800 students with future expansion of an additional 450 students, reduced from the 2,500 students under the 2018 Approved Project. Project components remain similar in nature and building placement on the project site is similar to the 2018 Approved Project, while lessening building square footages and footprints by 510,140 square feet, and retaining certain existing campus components such as athletic fields and certain District offices. Reconstruction of the campus under the Revised Project would include construction of three connected two story academic buildings totaling approximately 138,916 square feet; an approximately 38,229 square-foot one-story performing arts center; an approximately 43,854 square-foot gymnasium and outdoor aquatic center; a new stadium and adaptive landscaping area; and three parking lot facilities equaling 446 spaces. The Revised Project would meet all of the objectives of the 2018 Approved Project, with the exception of retaining certain existing District facilities that would all have been relocated under the 2018 Approved Project. The District approved the Revised Project and EIR Addendum on July 17, 2019.
