Document Description
The Irwindale Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station Project (MRF/TS) includes the development and operation of a municipal solid waste MRF/TS and convenience store/public gas station at 2200 Arrow Highway, Irwindale CA, (APN# 8535-001-911). The Project site is approximately 17.22 acres. The MRF/TS consists of a fully enclosed building with the interior designed to provide separate areas to receive, process, and transfer mixed municipal solid waste, green waste, construction and demolition (C&D) materials, and waste delivered by self-haulers. The MRF/TS facility is designed to receive, process and transfer up to a maximum of 6,000 tons per day. Hazardous wastes are not processed at the MRF/TS and will be isolated in the sorting process and periodically collected by a licensed hazardous waste handling contractor for proper disposal as required by State law. The convenience store/public gas station would be a separate structure located in the southeastern portion of the site, adjacent to Arrow Highway, and includes a fueling island with pump canopy, convenience store with limited alcohol sales, and parking for customers.
