Document Description
The Carpinteria Salt Marsh Enhancement Plan was developed to address both flood control needs and habitat enhancement goals. The Enhancement Plan has been under implementation since it was approved in 2003. Prior to 2003, The Marsh was desilted under emergency response in the 1990s and prior to that on an as-needed basis. Periodic sediment removal is required to maintain channel capacity, estuarine habitat and water quality. The District plans to update the Enhancement Plan to include several changes to existing routine maintenance practices.
