Title
Integrated Vector Management Program
Description
The District exists to reduce the risk of vector-borne disease or discomfort to the residents of its Service Area. The District proposes changes to the existing Integrated Vector Management Program (IVMP) (Proposed Project) including the use of malathion (an organophosphate adult pesticide), modifications to aerial treatment by helicopter and droner, the use and application of Bti (larvicide) for mosquito larvae, and the use of sterile mosquitoes as biological control. Activities under the current IVMP are now conducted within the District’s Service Area of approximately 2,400 square miles. The District’s Service Area is located in the greater Coachella Valley in eastern within Riverside County. The Service Area includes cities of Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage as well as portions of unincorporated of Riverside County.
