Title: The Old Road Over Castaic Creek Project
Description: The project would involve seismic retrofits to The Old Road Bridge over Castaic Creek, which is located in the unincorporated community of Val Verde in Los Angeles County. The proposed seismic retrofitting of the existing bridge would bring the bridge into conformance with current seismic standards. Construction of the retrofits is expected to occur in 2024 and would take approximately 24 weeks. Construction would require some excavations within the creek bottom underneath the bridge; however, any disturbance areas within the creek would be returned to pre construction conditions upon completion of construction. Temporary staging areas would be established to the north and south of the existing bridge. Once project construction has been completed, the bridge would be maintained and used in a manner consistent with existing conditions. No expansion in lane capacity would occur, and no substantial changes to the layout of connecting roadways would occur.
