Pittsburg Moves -- Active Transportation Plan

Description

The proposed Pittsburg Moves - Active Transportation Plan is intended to increase walking and biking in the city of Pittsburg. The Plan has two basic elements: 1) a set of policies, programs, and practices to support a robust and comfortable active transportation network near schools, parks, and transit stations, and 2) a comprehensive list of proposed improvements to bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. Proposed bicycle projects include shared-use bike paths, bike lanes and buffered bike lanes, bicycle boulevards and routes, and protected bike lanes. Proposed pedestrian projects include a wide range of crosswalk improvements: crosswalk striping, wayfinding signs, Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons (PHBs), upgraded curb ramps, advanced yield markings and signs for drivers, raised crosswalks, median refuges, curb extensions to shorten crossings, and trail crossing signals.
