Description
The project consists of Wheeler Ridge-Maricopa Water Storage District's installation, operation and maintenance of a new traveling water screen in an existing vault within the State of California Department of Water Resources ("DWR") right-of-way at Aqueduct Turnout WRM-9A, together with trenching to bury two 2-inch diameter electrical conduits. The Project may require an encroachment permit from the DWR. The Project also involves placing certain accessory items needed for operation and maintenance in the DWR's right-of-way, including three electrical conduit pull boxes, a 15-foot x 20-foot concrete debris collection pad with drain and 4-foot-tall blocks walls, safety rails, a new pole-mounted light, a steel work platform, a maximum 6-foot-tall aboveground electrical enclosure, and 16-foot-wide double swing gates. The total length of conduit will be less than 200 feet and the footprint of the project will occupy less than 0.04 acres. The work area is limited to developed land devoid of vegetation including compacted vehicle access areas and embankments. The project will facilitate the continued operation and maintenance of an existing water conveyance turnout. The District and its landowners and water users are beneficiaries of the project.
