Title
Evergreen Royal Oaks Feeder 1203 Extension
Description
SMUD's existing single electrical circuit is not able to meet the demand for service required by new conditional use permits for adjacent indoor cultivation businesses on Railroad Drive. SMUD is proposing to extend the Evergreen Royal Oaks 1203 feeder circuit to Railroad Drive to be able to serve these customers. Overhead work will consist of reconductoring approximately 1,025 feet of overhead 12 kilovolt (kV) wire, adding a capacitor bank, building approximately 175 feet of new overhead 12kV wire, installing one new pole, and replacing three existing poles. Work on underground circuits near Lathrop Way will consist of approximately 1,675 feet of trenching and 100 feet of directional boring to install two 6-inch schedule 40 conduits. Trenches will then be backfilled with slurry and native soils. Four high voltage pull boxes (48 in. x 72 in. x 42 in) will be installed. When trenching encroaches into the drip line of protected trees, an air tool will be used for excavation under the supervision of an ISA certified arborist. Using this technique, minimal to no impact on valley oaks are expected. Construction is anticipated to start as early as February 2020 or soon thereafter and last for approximately 22 days.
