Description: Note: FED document & Review Per Lead The California Tropical Forest Standard establishes robust criteria that potential partner jurisdictions (called "implementing jurisdictions") would need to meet when seeking to enable their sector-based crediting programs that reduce emissions from tropical deforestation and degradation, if applicable, to align with regulatory emissions trading systems. While the standard is described and drafted in the context of an emissions trading system, a tropical forest jurisdiction could also use the standard as a guide to attract other types of investments to address deforestation such as pay for performance mechanisms. The Draft EA assesses the potential for significant adverse and beneficial environmental impacts associated with reasonably foreseeable actions taken in response to implementation of the proposed project.
