The California Tropical Forest Standard establishes robust criteria that tropical forest jurisdictions (called "implementing jurisdictions") would need to meet when seeking to enable their sector-based crediting programs that reduce emissions from tropical deforestation and degradation, if applicable, to align with emissions trading systems, payment for performance mechanisms, sustainable supply chain initiatives, and other types of investments to reduce deforestation at the jurisdiction scale.
