Baseline Pit (Material Site #190)

Description

Caltrans will restore mining activities at Material Site (MS) 190 and has prepared a Surface Mining and Reclamation Plan. The site was last used a mine in the 1990s and includes the partially-reclaimed previous mining area, a paved mixing table, storage area, and an access road. Primary proposed use of MS 190 will be to support Caltrans' standard maintenance and operations activities by reactivating the site for material (gravel) mining, sorting, stockpiling, and a storage location for cinders, asphalt grindings, and equipment and materials like guardrails, treated wood posts, and signs. A secondary use of the site is to provide contractors with an equipment staging or mining area.
