Document Description
Caltrans proposes to restore mining activities at Material Site 190 and has prepared a Surface Mining and Reclamation Plan. The site was last used a mine in the early 1990s and currently includes the partially-reclaimed previous mining area, a paved mixing table, storage area, and an access road. Primary proposed use of MS 190 would be to support Caltrans' standard maintenance and operations activities by reactivating the site for material (gravel), mining, sorting, stockpiling, and a storage location for cinders, asphalt grindings, and equipment and materials like guardrails, treated wood posts, and signs. A secondary use of the site would be to provide Caltrans construction contractors with an equipment staging area. The third-tier possible use of the site would be to make MS 190 available to construction contractors as a possible site for mining.
