The Great LA River Clean Up
Description
The project consists of annual trash removal within the Los Angeles River. On three Saturday mornings in April and/or May from nine until noon, approximtely 9,000 people volunteer in Friends of the Los Angeles River's annual "Gran Limpieza", The Great Los Angeles River Clean-Up. Before the clean-up begins, a veteran site captain shall talk to the participants at each location covering environmental concerns with emphasis on avoiding nesting birds. Clean-up activities shall be conducted entirely by hand. A biological survey will be conducted on all sites before and after the event.
