West Carson Transit Oriented District Specific Plan

Description

The West Carson TOD SP would encourage transit oriented development; promote active transportation and improve quality of life for residents; reduce vehicle miles traveled; create community benefits with improvements to the public realm; improve economic vitality and employment opportunities; and streamline the environmental review process for future projects. The SP is anticipated to facilitate development, especially residential and employment-generating uses, in proximity to the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and to increase ridership on the Metro Silver Line express bus line via the nearby Carson Station. Overall, the SP would potentially accommodate an additional 2,271 dwelling units and approx 1,704,985 sf of non-residential land uses. The SP also includes pedestrian sidewalk and intersection improvements.
