Title
Venice Auxiliary Pumping Plant Project
Description
The proposed project would be built on three vacant lots with a total combined area of approx. 12,076 sq. ft. The proposed project would include a number of improvements including a 2,500 sq. ft. two-story building approx. 32 feet in height that will house the operational control center for the plant, related electrical equipment, and employee workstations. There will be three underground wet-pit submersible pumps that will process approx. 18 million gallons a day of sewage. Also housed in the new building will be electrical equipment, utility connections, instrumentation and controls, transformers, and generators. There will be a 17-foot by 17-foot submerged diversion structure on the existing Coastal Intercept Sewer, the top of which would be below the lowest elevation of the Grand Canal and buried underneath it. A concrete wet well, influent piping and a sluice gate and a new 66-inch sewer will connect the VAPP to the new diversion structure. There will also be fencing and vegetation for screening the VAPP building. Parking will be provided at 128 Hurricane Street to allow for Project required employee, Beach Impact Zone parking and public parking, including the relocation of coastal parking within the Venice Coastal Zone. Landscaping and open space will be located on 128 Hurricane Street.
