- Title
- Jalama Road Bridge 51C-017 Replacement Project
- Description
- CDFW is intending to execute a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code (# 1600-2014-0059-R5) to the Project applicant, Morgan Jones, County of Santa Barbara Public Works. The Project proposes to replace the existing bridge with a 160-foot wide single-span pre-cast and pre-stressed concrete Bulb-Tee Girder Bridge. The new structure will accommodate one 12-foot traffic lane and a 5-foot wide shoulder in each direction. New abutments will be cast-in-place concrete piles and set back from the top of the existing deeply incised creek banks to provide protection from future erosion. Construction will be done from the top of bank to avoid the creek channel and the riparian zone below. Grading includes 90 cubic yards for the structural excavation, backfield with 60 cubic yards, and 30 cubic yards will be exported from site. The two existing concrete pile supported pier walls will remain as well as the existing concrete substructure to avoid disturbing the creek and to avoid additional placement of rock slope protection to armor the banks. However, the existing bridge abutments above the piling and the wingwalls will be removed. A retaining wall will be constructed along Jalama Road on the east side of the bridge and the south side of the road to contain a slip-out that has occurred. The size of the retaining wall will be 100-feet long by 12-feet tall at its highest point.
