- Title
- Flint Williamson Act Amendment and Grading Permit
- Description
- The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2013-0237-R2 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Wendel Flint. The project site would be converted from an agricultural field used for annual crop production to a mitigation bank containing restored floodplain mosaic wetlands. The first phase of restoring the project site will include the construction of wetland basins, seasonal swales/low flow channels, and seeding. The depth of excavation required to create the wetland habitats will be two feet on average (no deeper than six feet). Prior to construction, an irrigation ditch on-site will be filled and the man-made borrow pit will be widened and partially filled in order to make it more shallow, which will help to prevent fish stranding following the completion of Phase II. The second phase will include breeching the levee and installing riparian plantings. The 30 -foot levee breach will be installed in the southwest corner of the project site and excavated so the lowest point of the breach will be 15 feet above mean sea level (msl), with 2:1 rip-rapped slopes to protect the remainder of the levee system. A total of approximately 773 cubic yards of fill (native soil) will be excavated with potential incidental fallback during levee breach installation.
