- Title
- Healdsburg Avenue Bridge Retrofit/Rehabilitation Project
- Description
- The project is limited to retrofit and rehabilitation of the Healdsburg Avenue Bridge (Project) in order to be brought up to current seismic safety standards. The Project will include the following improvements: Construction of a new 7-foot-wide concrete pier to replace the existing seismic-and scour deficient center timber pile-supported pier: The new center pier will be supported by two 7-foot diameter cast-in-place steel shell (CISS) piles that are placed in line with the existing pier, one immediately upstream and another immediately downstream of the existing pier. The piles will be connected by an infill wall; Demolition of the existing concrete bridge deck and replacement with a cast-in-place concrete deck; Sandblasting of the existing steel structure to remove existing lead paint and repainting of the entire bridge; Replacement of the existing steel roller bearings at the abutments and center pier with seismic isolation lead-rubber bearings; Strengthening of the top chord of the bridge truss members that have been damaged from vehicular impact; Installation of steel bracing under the bridge deck to seismically strengthen the existing superstructure; Placement of rock rip-rap around the existing abutments for scour protection; Replacement of the existing chain link fence with a new steel frame pedestrian railing that incorporates all of the historic railing and meets current safety standards; and Construction of a steel vehicular barrier at the outside edges of each of the travel lanes in order to protect the truss from further damage.
