Document Description
The project involves retrofitting and rehabilitating the existing Healdsburg Ave Bridge over the Russian River. A new 7-ft-wide concrete pier is proposed for construction to replace the existing seismic- and scour-deficient center timber pile-supported pier. The new center pier would be supported by two 7-ft diameter cast-in-place steel shell piles that are placed in line with the existing pier, one immediately upstream and another immediately downstream of the existing pier. The existing concrete bridge deck would be demolished and replaced with a standard cast-in-place lightweight concrete deck. The existing steel structure would be sandblasted to remove the existing lead paint and the entire bridge repainted.
