Title
Ocean Resources Enhancement and Hatchery Program (OREHP)
Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife administers the Ocean Resources Enhancement and Hatchery Program (OREHP), a program of basic and applied research into the artificial propagation, rearing, and stocking of important marine finfish species occurring in ocean waters off southern California. The OREHP currently focuses on White Sea bass rearing and release. Two grow out pens occupy sovereign land in Catalina Harbor, which is managed by the State Lands Commission, and therefore requires a lease. The State Lands Commission action is an amendment to the General Lease - Commercial Use to the Santa Catalina Island Company and the authorization of a sublease to the Hubbs Sea World Research Institute and Catalina Bass Fund for the grow out pens. The sublease term ends concurrently with the lease on December 21, 2021.
