Title
Supplemental EIR for the Santa Rosa Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program
Description
The proposed project will enable Santa Rosa to reduce GHG emissions, adapt to climate change, and improve the economic, environmental, and physical health of the community. The CAP calls for many changes between now and 2020, 2035, & 2050 including practices related to the following subject areas: green building; energy efficiency; transit-oriented development; mixed-use/higher density development; recycling and composting; water conservation; and renewable energy. The CAP goals and policies will help shape the future of Santa Rosa. The Santa Rosa CAP is both a policy document and quantitative analysis of the City's GHG emissions. Specifically, this plan identifies policies that will achieve the state-recommended GHG reduction target of 15% below 2007 levels by the year 2020. The CAP also identifies goals and associated measures, also referred to as reduction measures, to attain the adopted City target of reducing emissions to 25% below 1990 levels by the year 2015. The CAP also outlines ways in which the City can prepare for possible impacts of climate change including sea level rise, water shortages, and extreme heat events.
