Project Info
- Title
- Fletcher Basin Improvement Project
- Description
- Proposed project involves the construction and operation of a 4.5 acre basin that would be used for flood control protection and groundwater retention basin. The Basin will be excavated to a depth of 15 feet below the ground surface at a 2:1 slope and will then be over-excavated to a depth of 30 feet below the ground surface at a 1:1 slope. The over excavated area will be backfilled with sand to maintain slope stability. The Basin configuration will provide 0.96 acres of percolation area. The Basin will allow total 43.5 acre feet of storage with 1 foot of freeboard. A submersible sump pump will be constructed at the north western end of the Basin to drain the basin when cleaning. Excess flood water from the Riverview Basin will be sent to the Basin by a 12-inch water supply pipeline. The pipeline will be jack and bored underneath the Channel. The pipeline will then extend along an existing service road located on Riverview Basin sand and gravel property and along Batavia Street and Fletcher Avenue to the Basin.
