Project Info

Hansen Dam Skate Park
The project, located within the Hansen Dam Recreation Area on property leased from the Los Angeles District of US Army Corps of Engineers, would involve the construction of a 10,000 square-foot concrete street-style skate plaza with features such as "hubbas", quarter pipes, transitional elements, stairs and rails, ledges and curbs, pads, and gaps on approximately a one acre site in the Hansen Dam Park portion of the recreation area. The project would also include new walkways, benches, picnic tables, trash receptacles, drinking fountains, and turf landscaping. The proposed project would utilize existing parking that is provided at Hansen Dam Recreation Area, which is from dawn to dusk. Nighttime use of the skate park would be prohibited and lighting is not proposed, with the exception of limited sensor security lighting. Construction of the project would involve grading of the project site, with some minor excavations for footings and other sub-grade features. There are eight mature trees located on the project site and preliminary site designs show the potential for three trees to be removed, although it is the intent of the project to avoid tree removal wherever possible.
