Title
San Diego Creek Restoration Project
Description
The project is limited to restoring a 1,971 meter (1.2 mile) portion of the San Diego Creek to original design grade and capacity as constructed in 1988. The City of Irvine proposes to accomplish this by: removing silt to design grade; removing trash, debris, and vegetation from the channel bottom; and realigning and/or replace existing riprap around outlet structures, grade control structures, and under bridges. The one time, initial construction intends to remove 0.14 acres of riparian vegetation. No new structures beyond that of the original 1988 construction are proposed. The repair of outlet structures, grade control structures, and restoration of the eroded soil-cement banks and access ramps will consist of the same type of material, in the same location, as originally designed. The project includes ongoing maintenance of the channel and existing structures throughout the term of the Agreement.
