B Street Shore Power Project

Description

The project will enable appropriately equipped cruise ships to plug in to the shore based power grid and turn off their engines. The project will result in substantial reductions in criteria pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions associated with cruise ship berthing at the B Street and Broadway piers. The project involves the construction of a series of utility boxes in close proximity to one another with a combined length of 70 ft, a combined width of 35 ft and up to 12 ft in height. The San Diego Unified Port District approved the Coastal Development Permit for installation of the utility boxes, safety fencing, cable and equipment installation on B Street Pier as well as the installation of cable along North Harbor Drive and equipment on Broadway Pier.
