Title
Integrated Master Plan for Wastewater Collection and Treatment Facilities
Description
The City of Riverside's Sewage System Division is responsible for collection and treatment of wastewater flows generated within the City of Riverside and the adjacent communities of Jurupa, Rubidoux, Edgemont, and Highgrove. The City of Riverside's RWQCP provides primary through tertiary treatment at a rated capacity of 40 mpg and based on the master plan flow projections, it is anticipated that the available capacity of the existing Plant 1 would be exceeded by 2012. The City of Riverside proposes to upgrade its Regional Water Quality Control Plant (RWQCP) from a current capacity of 40 million gallons per day (mgd) to approximately 52.2 mgd by year 2025 to accommodate the forecasted growth projections for the City of Riverside. The main components of the proposed project would be constructed within the plant's existing footprint and would be upgraded to accommodate the future wastewater demands. The proposed components for upgrades and/or expansion include treatment facilities, new head works facility, new chlorine contact basin, new waste activated sludge thickening facility, new plant utilities and support facilities, rehabilitation and expansion of the City's existing collection system and other related projects that serve to support the ongoing operation of the RWQCP.
