Title
Restoration of a Section of the Upper San Diego Ditch and Abandonment of a 1974 Flume
Description
An existing wooden flume on the Tuolumne Utilities District's Upper San Diego Ditch is in disrepair and leaking significantly. TUD proposes to abandon the flume and restore the flows along the route of a previously abandoned section of the ditch. The restoration will consist of guniting approx. 80ft. the ditch and installing approx. 112ft. of 24" diameter pipe which will circumvent around the northwest side of the flume. The existing flume is wooden, approx. 113ft. in length and was constructed by PG&E in 1974. TUD proposes to dismantle and remove the entire flume. A walking trail passes through the area, which will be reestablished after restoration. Construction access will be through the College property and down a roughed-in road from the observatory. Construction time will be 1-2 weeks and is anticipated to start towards the end of fall in 2008. The District will use its own workforce to complete the project.
