- Title
- Osterweis Ranch Project Coastal Permit & Design Review
- Description
- The applicant, John Osterweis (Osterweis Ranch), is proposing to abandon/decommission an existing low water crossing and install a new clear span bridge to facilitate vehicular, livestock and pedestrian access from agricultural/residential buildings to adjacent agricultural lands. The proposed project includes the following: removal of two "old" abutment walls (approx. 15ftX8ftX4ft) and associated fill, installation of a new 65ft. bridge and associated abutment walls, as well as various "improvements" to adjacent driveways including placement of gravel. The new bridge is designed to pass a 100 year flood event. Construction activities include excavation of 563 cubic yards of fill, excavation of concrete, demolition debris and other non-soil materials. The project will require the removal of several native trees including one bay laurel and one alder, as well as other native, non-native vegetation in order to facilitate placement of the new abutments and other elements of the project. The applicant has stated that no grading will occur within the wetted area of the stream and that if equipment crossing of the creek is necessary, steel plates or wood mats will be temporarily installed to minimize impacts to the streambed.
